My 5 favorite albums of all time
1 - Edge Of Sanity - Spectral Sorrows (Black Mark 1993)
Purchased this album after hearing "Lost" and "The Masque" on "When All Is Said" best of compilation and i will never regret buying the album. Fun fact about this album, the cover art was made by Dan Seagrave who also worked on the iconic "Left Hand Path" album art for Entombed.
2 - Neuraxis - Truth Beyond (Galy Records 2002)
This Grindcore flavored Melodeath Metal album changed the way i see extreme Metal forever and it also inspired me to start writing music. Songs like "Divinity" and "Imagery" show relentless intensity while having wonderful Melodic elements and song structures. Bought this album in 2006 and only heard of Neuraxis once before buying it, I was blown away when i first listened to it.
3 - Opeth - Blackwater Park (Music For Nations 2001)
here comes the overrated one... (it is not overrated in my opinion because it truly deserves the attention it's getting) Blackwater Park from Opeth. Such a powerful album, almost 70 minutes and it is good from the first minute to the last one. No need to say anything about the songwriting and the production, it is spotless. Highlights of the album : "The Drapery Falls", "Funeral Portrait" and the title track "Blackwater Park"
4 - Metallica - Ride The Lightning (Megaforce Records 1984)
Who doesn't remember the epic intro of "Fight Fire With Fire" or the memorable lyrics from "For Whom The Bell Tolls" ? This album really got me into Metal music, I have been listening to Metal non-stop since I heard this masterpiece.
5. Fragments Of Unbecoming - Sterling Black Icon (Metal Blade Records 2006)
If you are a big Melodic Death Metal you need to know about this album : Sterling Black Icon, Very brutal stuff for a Melodeath album. The only song where you get a little break from intensity is with "Dear Floating Water" it has a slightly slower tempo but still pretty heavy. I could never forget "A Faint Illumination" opening riff, it is so energetic that you can't help but headbang to it.
